Smoky-Hot Barbecue Sauce

Labor day weekend is one of the few holidays during the year that allows for an enjoyable three day weekend with your close friends and family. It is a day of rest from the mundane duties of your job and a day to play outside and of course barbecue before the fall wind picks up.

Banana Milkshake

Summer is quickly leaving and taking with it the warm weather that we have grown to love. Before the cold weather takes its place and settles in you need to have at least one more fling. Milkshakes are like ice cream in the fact that you will always crave them when there is warm weather.

Zesty Meatballs

Usually we are used to eating meatballs with marinara sauce and spaghetti. However, zesty meatballs are meant to be served over rice. They are easy to make and they will be a great hit.

Ingredients:

1 egg
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed tomato soup
1/4 cup instant rice
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 ½ tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 ½ teaspoon onion salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

Pear And Blue Cheese Salad

Pear and blue cheese salad is one of the more unusual salads and makes for an interesting dish. It is a very easy dish to make - but I’ll be honest in saying that some people may not like the taste of it. Of course you’ll never know until you give it a try.

1 (1.25 ounce) envelope hollandaise sauce mix
4 cups half-and-half, divided
1/4 cup butter
3 tablespoons Old Bay Seasoning TM
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1 cup whipping cream
1 ½ tablespoon cooking sherry
1 pound fresh crabmeat

Mediterranean Pasta

Who says you have to always eat your pasta with marinara or alfredo sauce? Why not try something more unique, exotic, and delicious than what you are used to? Mediterranean pasta is both quick and easy to make and a dish that most people find hard to refuse. Make sure you make enough because everyone will be wanting seconds.

Ingredients:

8 ounces spaghetti
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 ½ tablespoon olive oil

Italian Wedding Cookies

These cookies are delicious and also unusual when compared to your average chocolate chip cookies. They make for a great snack for anyone to enjoy and can even be served as dessert for a family gathering or a small get-together.

8 ounces almond paste
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 drops green food coloring
4 drops yellow food coloring
4 drops red food coloring
1 (12 ounce) jar seedless raspberry jam, heated
1 (12 ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips, melted

Banana Sour Cream Bread

It’s time to put away the lemonade and the sweet tea and try a drink that is more refreshing and tastier then what you are used to. Mint coolers have a great taste and will cool anyone off on a hot day. It’s a great change from the ordinary.

2 cups lime cordial
2 cups club soda
4 slices lime
