Ramen (Japanese Recipe)

We all know that the best meal to eat when you are in college is ramen. It is cheap and it really doesn’t taste that bad. But now that those days are behind you it is time to mix things up and eat ramen the way that it was meant to be eaten. This recipe is delicious in every way and has more to look forward to than your every day average ramen packs. It may not be as cheap – but it is definitely much better and it is a true recipe straight from Japan.

Ingredients Are:

1 lb. thinly sliced boneless pork
1 pkg. Ramen noodles
1 oz. Shitake mushrooms
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 oz. ginger root
1 bunch green onions
3 cloves fresh garlic
96 oz. chicken broth
½ tsp. white pepper
1 tsp. salt

Directions Are:

Coarsely chop mushrooms, ginger, garlic and green onions (setting aside 3 tbsp. of snips of the green tops) and sauté in dutch oven for 1 minute in olive oil. Add chicken broth white pepper and salt. Cover and bring to slow boil, then reduce to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Strain broth and return to dutch oven. Add pork and cook on medium-high heat for 15 minutes.
